Walk Beside Me …

Had time to do a little birds watching. It’s uncanny how bird’s interaction mirrors our own.

The water color is a result of shooting during sunset time. There were patchy clouds reflecting some of the sunset colors into the water. I changed white balance to “shade” during raw conversion to get warmer tones. I also cloned out a few distractions on the water surface. I wish I could have gotten more details and sharpness out of the birds, but given the available light and what I had to work with, I am happy with these shots.

When Darkness Comes …

When the darkness comes, keep an eye on the light
– whatever that is for you – no matter how far away it seems.

An old beach bonfire photo shot last winter. This B&W version just fits my mood lately …

Sliver Moon

Friday evening traffic was heavier than usual, so I got off the freeway and sat on the beach for a while … a sliver of hope …

I wanted to shoot with a slower exposure time to smooth out the foreground even more, but a longer exposure would render the moon out of focus. Not wanting to combine two different shots, I settled for a 6 second exposures.

This is a non-crop version of the wide screen version I posted on Flickr a couple days ago. I wanted to post this sooner, but just couldn’t find the time. It’s been three difficult weeks. I am trying to find time to return to my normal routines.

One thing I don’t like about my current setup, Canon 5D + Canon17-40mm f4 L + Lee GND filter, is that I get purple rings on the edges of my wide angle shots when I shoot into the sun. At first, I thought it was my circular polarizer, but I didn’t use a cp filter for this shot. One of these days, I’ll have to try the 16mm to see if it’s a problem with my lens or the 5D.
