Decided to take a break from posting photos from the Eastern Sierra. I shot this over a week ago before I left town, and was going to post it last week, but didn’t have time until now. I shoot a lot of these types of images, but what I like about this one is the cloud patterns. Some one wrote a huge M on the sky :)

90° left view, ~45 minutes later from the previous shot.

Woke up and it was still snowing! Arrived at Convict Lake well before sunrise. Decided to walk along the perimeter of the lake. Fresh snow! Sat on the edge of the lake for a while …

One of the very first few shots that I took during my trip last weekend. I decided to pull into a dirt road along US 395 and waited the light to change. The massive cloud formations eventually turned red; however, I like the range of light and colors from this shot better. Hours later, I ended up driving through a blinding snow fall to reach Mammoth Lakes.

Returned from my first Eastern Sierra leaf peeping trip. Drove over 1000 miles & shot some 600 photos. The recent storm really shortened up this foliage season for the high Eastern Sierra. Although I came up a few days too late, this area is really that beautiful in the Fall.

Planning to visit the Eastern Sierra this week? I’d skip the higher elevations in the Bishop Creek Canyon. The only exception is Aspendell. Lake Sabrina and South Lake: I wouldn’t bother – they’re done for this season. Convict Lake should be really nice by now. The aspens near Silver Lake were spectacular. McGee Creek was nice. Although most of the colors were gone around North Lake, I spent a memorable sunrise there.
