Like a Butterfly

“Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp,
but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.” — Nathaniel Hawthorne
Took it easy yesterday. No work. Slept in. Late lunch. Spa. Beach. Dinner.
Watched the clouds for a while. Saw a V. Went down on the sand to look for an X. Found a butterfly. Didn’t want foreground distraction. Removed rocks and seaweeds. Waited. Took 80+ frames.
Couldn’t time the wave patterns when the clouds were at their most vibrant colors. Did more post processing than usual: cloudy white balance +3 black level, +5 shadows, +3% noise, “linear” S curve, darken top and bottom edges, USM on the resized JPG (80%, radius 0.7px, threshold 8). The small dot near the horizon on the right? A happy surfer. Not too please with the dark top left corner (sun was bellow the horizon far to the right), but too sleepy now to dodge … it’s almost 3am.
