Eastern Nevada’s winter sunset

I was planning to post another beach photo, but decided to post this Eastern Nevada sunset photo that I shot back in 2006 instead.

Wilderness Watch asked to use one of my Eastern Nevada photos, Genesis , for their notecards, so I went back to my archive to locate the file. I found a slightly different version of the same scene. Although I liked the sky in the original post, the foreground elements were too busy for my liking. I much prefer the foreground elements in this shot. Since I didn’t use a graduated neutral density filter, I processed a single raw exposure twice for this image.

The California Eastern Nevada is one of my favorite locations to photograph. I usually find some of the most incredible light there. John Muir called this place “The Range of Light” for good reasons.
