As I mentioned in my previous post about a twilight surfer, I lined up my tripod to make a vertorama, and this image was what I had in mind. I rushed the last shot out because I did not have time to finish processing this image.

This thirty seconds exposure was taken about twenty minutes after my previous shot, Live in the Moment. As twilight faded, I spotted this piece of broken kelp on the sand. Unlike my previous shot where I just wanted to focus on the light and colors, I gave this photo a little more thoughts.

I wrote in one of my one of my previous posts about how my camera allows me to visualize what my naked eyes cannot see. This image is one of such examples. The scene was much darker than what this photo shows. I could barely see the rock and the piece of kelp, yet I knew that a longer exposure would bring out details and colors that I couldn’t see in darkness. I took six long exposures before I lost all the light and colors. Only this image came out sharp enough. The rest, the tides came in and shifted the sand under my tripods during the long exposures.

This is my last post before leaving town for Thanksgiving. Wherever you are, I hope you find your moment and stay in your moment – be it a smile on your child’s face or a nice walk in the winter night with your love one or a warm dinner by the fire with family and friends …

Happy Holidays.

Another beach sunset afterglow photo that I took last winter. I saw this strand of kelp submerged in the wet sand and decided to setup my tripods there. I posted a similar shot back in my January 2nd 2008′s post, Fleeting Heart. This Kelp Strand in the Sand image was taken about seven minutes prior to the Fleeting Heart shot.

Why did I decide to post this now? Some times I feel like an Ostrich, burying my head in the sand … ignorance is bliss … or is it oblivion?
