Big Sur’s Golden Coastline

I shot this Big Sur moonlit coastline photo last year, but didn’t feel like posting it because I blew the exposures. After some post processing works, I decided to post this shot now to make a dedication to those in Big Sur going through the Big Sur Basin Complex fire. I can’t imagine what it was like for Big Sur residents seeing the fire jumped the Pacific Coast Highway and threatened their safety. I have a couple contacts from Big Sur. I hope you’re all safe. Big Sur is incredibly beautiful, and I’m very sad to see it’s burning :(

Lunar Eclipse Beach Walk

Sliver Moon

Friday evening traffic was heavier than usual, so I got off the freeway and sat on the beach for a while … a sliver of hope …

I wanted to shoot with a slower exposure time to smooth out the foreground even more, but a longer exposure would render the moon out of focus. Not wanting to combine two different shots, I settled for a 6 second exposures.

Blue Moon

Technically speaking, blue moon for 2007 was May 2nd, but I’ve been feeling quite blue lately …

Took my old Canon 10D out yesterday. This was the first time that I put a GND filter on my 70-200, and I like the end result. I didn’t have to shoot the moon separately and combine two exposures.

Moonrise over Alaka’i Swamp

After the shadow covered the Kalalau Valley, I picked up my tripods and walked towards the Pihea Trail. This is what I saw … a full moon rising over the Alakai’s Swamp … I just stood there for a moment and took it all in .. .behind me, darkness slowly crept in; in front of me, a golden full moon rose above the clouds as twilight was fading …
